Pay-Per-Message Billing

Starter and Pro merchants on the shared number pay per delivered WhatsApp message via Shopify usage billing.

How it works

  1. You upgrade to Starter or Pro
  2. Shopify prompts you to approve usage billing
  3. Each delivered message is charged at the rate for the destination country and message category
  4. Charges appear on your Shopify bill

Message categories and rates

Rates vary by country and category:

Rate calculation

Rates = Meta’s list price + 20% markup. Billed on delivery, not on send attempt.

Approval required

If usage billing is not approved in Shopify, messages won’t send. You’ll see:

“Approve pay-per-message billing in Shopify to send on the shared number.”

BYO billing

Pro+ merchants with their own number have unlimited sends from Level. Meta invoices your WhatsApp Business Account directly. See BYO billing.
