Template Approval
All WhatsApp business messages require Meta-approved templates. Here’s how the approval process works in Level.
Submit for approval
- Create or edit a draft template in the template manager
- Click Submit for approval
- Status changes to Pending
- Meta typically reviews within minutes (can take up to 24 hours)
Approval requirements
- Template body follows Meta’s template guidelines
- Marketing templates include opt-out text: “Reply STOP to unsubscribe”
- Variable placeholders (
{{1}},{{2}}) are mapped to valid types - Category matches content (utility vs marketing)
Allow auto-categorization
Enable Allow WhatsApp to assign category based on content to reduce rejections. Meta may reclassify your template’s category.
After approval
- Template status shows Approved
- Body text becomes read-only
- Assign to a message flow in Message flows
- Map variables if not already done
