Deferred Sends
Marketing messages can be deferred when Meta’s frequency limits or Level’s marketing cap block immediate delivery. Deferred messages are retried automatically.
What deferred means
A campaign message shows Deferred — “Waiting for Meta marketing window” — when it couldn’t be sent immediately due to:
- Level’s 1 marketing message per phone per 24 hours cap
- Meta error 131049 (platform frequency limit)
- Temporary marketing guard blocks
The campaign may show Completed while some messages are still deferred.
Automatic retry
Level runs RetryDeferredCampaignMessages every hour:
- Re-checks the marketing guard for each deferred message
- Moves eligible messages back to Pending
- Re-dispatches the send job
Batch size: up to 500 messages per run.
Customer opt-out
If a deferred recipient has opted out (replied STOP), the message moves to Failed with “Customer opted out of marketing messages” — no further retries.
Monitoring
On the campaign detail page, check the Deferred count alongside sent and failed. Deferred messages typically resolve within 24 hours.
